The controversy originally erupted in July following demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, where young protesters gathered under the banner of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to voice anger over alleged NEET paper leaks and structural flaws in the education system. Reacting to the protest at the time, Kangana Ranaut referred to the participating Gen Z youth as 'Generation Gutter'.
