After a long wait of eight years, the people of Deoghar have once again got a chance to shop in style. A handicraft festival fair is currently set up at the city's Shivlok complex, where famous products from 15 states are available under one roof. What makes it special is that many items here cost less than the regular market price, so ordinary buyers are not feeling much of a pinch.
Large crowds are turning up at the fair every day, and people are shopping enthusiastically. The colourful stalls and the glimpses of art, culture and handicraft from different states are drawing visitors in. That is why the fair has become a draw not just for Deoghar residents but also for people from the surrounding areas.
The Fair Runs From June 14 to July 5
The fair began at the Shivlok complex on June 14 and will continue until July 5. Organiser Sunil Sharma, a resident of Lucknow, said that this time artisans and traders from nearly 15 states have come to Deoghar with the famous products of their regions. This means people no longer need to travel to different states to shop, as special items from many states are available right here in one place.
What Each State Brings
The fair features Lucknow's famous chikankari garments, attractive wooden decorative pieces from Saharanpur, and Rajasthan's well-known churma, all of which are proving popular with visitors. Several other traditional products are also on display. As a result, almost every stall is seeing a rush of buyers.
Plenty of Choices for Women
The fair offers a wide range of attractive shopping options for women and young girls. Kurtis here start at just 200 rupees. Alongside these, Jaipuri cotton dresses, stylish sharara sets from Delhi, Rajasthani suits, Jaipuri print kurtis and Lucknow chikankari are among the many fashionable garments on sale.
The clothes are priced between 200 rupees and 1,800 rupees, so people from every section can shop according to their budget. There is noticeable excitement among women over these stalls. Apart from clothes, handmade decorative items, household goods and traditional products are also catching people's attention.
Open From 11:30 AM to 9 PM
The fair operates daily from around 11:30 am until 9 pm, with the biggest crowds gathering in the evening. Families visiting the fair are enjoying both the shopping and the lively atmosphere. The organisers say the aim of the fair is to bring the art and handicraft of different parts of the country closer to people, so that artisans get a better market and customers get quality products at fair prices. So if you too want to pick up something special, traditional and affordable, you can head to this fair before it ends on July 5.
