Telecommunications and digital services enterprise Jio Platforms is scheduled to mark its trading debut on October 28, drawing substantial interest across institutional and retail investor circles. Prior to the commencement of active trading, international brokerage house Nomura initiated equity coverage on the company with a decisive 'Buy' recommendation, setting an objective target price of Rs 1,340 per share. The rating underscores expectations of steady operational transformation and expanding earnings power as the company integrates its telecom infrastructure with value-added enterprise services.
Grey Market Premium Signals Hefty Listing Pop
Informal trading indicators in the unlisted market revealed elevated expectations ahead of the official opening bell on domestic bourses. By 9:02 AM on October 28, the grey market premium (GMP) for Jio Platforms traded at Rs 248 per share. When applied to the upper threshold of the IPO price band set at Rs 1,119, the implied trading price reached approximately Rs 1,367. This unlisted valuation translates to an estimated listing gain of 22.16 percent over the final issue price. While these informal metrics reflect strong preliminary enthusiasm among secondary participants, the ultimate opening quotation on the trading floor remains strictly contingent upon prevailing institutional demand and overall market liquidity when transactions begin.
Capital Raised and Public Issue Parameters
The public offering of Jio Platforms raised an aggregate of Rs 30,213 crore from the primary capital market. The entire capital mobilization comprised a fresh issue of 27 crore equity shares. Management had established a valuation price band ranging between Rs 1,065 and Rs 1,119 per share, ultimately fixing the final issue price at the ceiling rate of Rs 1,119. The bidding window opened for subscriber participation on October 21 and concluded on October 23, 2026. The share allotment phase was scheduled for finalization on October 26, culminating in the dual listing of the equity shares on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE on October 28.
Retail market participants bidding at the upper price limit were required to commit a minimum outlay of Rs 13,428 for a single application lot consisting of 12 equity shares. Multiple lot bids scaled upward in equivalent increments, drawing broad participation across diverse investor categories seeking exposure to India's telecom expansion.
Brokerage Outlook on Monetisation and Growth Engines
Nomura's research assessment emphasized a structural transition within Jio Platforms' operating framework, noting that the enterprise is transitioning away from a pure volume-led subscriber acquisition model toward intensified service monetisation and long-term shareholder value creation. Modeling financial expansion across the medium term, the brokerage projects the company's operating profit (EBITDA) to compound at an annual rate of 13.5 percent between fiscal year 2026 and fiscal year 2029.
Capital Discipline and Cash Flow Generation
The analysis identified wireline and home broadband expansion as a pivotal second growth vertical poised to reinforce revenue momentum. Crucially, the substantial capital expenditure cycle dedicated to nationwide 5G infrastructure development is now tapering down. As this intensive capital deployment moderates, Nomura anticipates that Jio Platforms could experience a considerable expansion in free cash flow throughout subsequent fiscal periods, unlocking surplus balance sheet flexibility and reinforcing the fundamental investment proposition.
