Breaking away from conventional employment paths and traditional farming, an inspiring entrepreneurial venture has emerged from the Nagarkurnool district of Telangana. Rather than pursuing desk jobs or standard agricultural practices, a determined young man in the region decided to explore an unconventional business model by establishing a modern dairy focused entirely on donkeys. Animals that were once viewed primarily as beasts of burden or overlooked entirely are now generating significant financial returns through this specialized facility, proving that calculated risks can pay off handsomely in rural enterprises.
Establishing The Farm With Over Fifty Animals
The enterprise was initiated by a young operator named Akhil, who brought in more than 50 improved-breed female donkeys sourced specifically from the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Unlike conventional dairy farming involving cows or buffaloes, the yield here is remarkably scarce. A single animal produces only about 500 milliliters to 1 liter of milk per day. Because the output is severely restricted while market demand remains exceptionally high, the pricing structure is unlike ordinary dairy, fetching anywhere between ₹5,000 and ₹7,000 per liter without difficulty.
Substantial Monthly Profits And Operational Costs
The operation yields an average of 15 to 20 liters of milk on a daily basis. Despite the limited quantity, the high valuation translates into a major commercial turnover each month. After accounting for all necessary expenditures including animal fodder, routine maintenance, medical care, and staff wages, the owner successfully retains a net profit ranging between ₹2 lakh and ₹3 lakh every single month. This financial model demonstrates how niche agricultural initiatives can yield impressive returns with proper execution.
High Demand In Cosmetics And Pharmaceutical Sectors
The steep valuation of this specialized milk stems from its unique nutritional profile and medicinal properties. According to experts, the nutritional composition of donkey milk closely resembles human breast milk. It contains notable anti-aging properties and abundant essential vitamins, prompting major domestic and international cosmetic brands to utilize it in manufacturing premium soaps, skin creams, and lotions. Furthermore, its application is expanding rapidly within the pharmaceutical sector for formulating pediatric supplements, respiratory treatments, and immune-boosting traditional and modern medicines.
