Empowering Small Livestock Farmers
The Animal Husbandry Department of the Uttar Pradesh government and The Goat Trust, based in Lucknow, have formalized a significant collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The primary objective of this partnership is to foster advanced techniques such as artificial insemination and heat synchronization in goats. This initiative marks a pioneering effort in Uttar Pradesh, where the government is working alongside an NGO and the private sector to bolster small livestock-based livelihoods for the first time. The MoU was officially signed during a two-day small animal conference held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow.
Core Objectives of the Agreement
Under the terms of this agreement, both organizations will collectively work to encourage sophisticated heat synchronization and artificial insemination methods for goats. Additionally, they plan to share crucial resources, including training frameworks, training modules, and developed educational materials. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to ensure that government programs and schemes reach even the most remote livestock owners, thereby improving their income and overall standard of living.
Minister Dharampal Singh's Vision
On this occasion, Dharampal Singh, who holds the portfolio of Pashudhan Evam Dugdh Vikas Mantri in the Yogi government, lauded the partnership. He articulated that such MoUs lay the groundwork for collaborative efforts, bringing together the best capabilities of both entities. Minister Singh expressed confidence that this endeavor would facilitate the delivery of government scheme benefits to farmers at the last mile.
