The 57th Convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) marked a historic milestone for higher education and advanced scientific research in India. During the auspicious occasion, degrees were conferred upon a total of 3,036 graduating students across various discipline levels, including BTech, MTech, MSc, MBA, and doctoral programs. Among the graduating cohort were 587 PhD scholars who successfully completed their research work. The defining highlight of the 57th Convocation was the inauguration of a state-of-the-art technological facility dedicated to the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi digitally launched 'Param Pragya', an advanced High-Performance Computing (HPC) system powered by artificial intelligence. Established at IIT Delhi's extension campus located in Sonipat, Haryana, this ultra-modern supercomputer is equipped with specialized processing capabilities. Param Pragya is built to handle massive data processing workloads, execute intricate mathematical calculations, and accelerate the training of large-scale AI models. Experts view this inauguration as a major milestone in strengthening India's indigenous supercomputing infrastructure and elevating data science research to global standards.
Indigenous Computing Power for Healthcare, Defense, and Climate Science
As artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics continue to redefine global technological landscapes, the commissioning of Param Pragya offers a major boost to Indian scientists. By providing massive internal computing power, the supercomputer eliminates the reliance of Indian researchers on expensive foreign computing infrastructure. Faculty members and scholars at IIT Delhi will leverage Param Pragya to conduct cutting-edge research across critical sectors.
