This targeted reservation will be applied strictly to Class III (Class 3) civil service positions across the state apparatus. The primary objective behind this strategic move is to facilitate the successful rehabilitation of these disciplined young individuals once their four-year military tenure concludes, thereby providing them with stable and long-term career opportunities within the state government.
Specific Roles Designated for the Quota
The cabinet laid out explicit directives detailing exactly which state departments will implement this new reservation framework for their direct recruitment drives. Former Agniveers will be eligible to avail of this 10 percent set-aside when applying for the critical position of Constable within the state Police Department. Additionally, the policy umbrella has been extended to the Forest and Climate Change Department for the recruitment of Forest Guards, as well as the Jail Department to fill impending vacancies for Jail Guards. To prevent the seasonal bottlenecks that often plague the farming sector, the government resolved to completely streamline the distribution of chemical fertilizers across both the major Kharif and Rabi crop cycles. Recognizing the immense logistical challenges that farmers face in acquiring timely supplies during peak sowing periods, the state announced the formation of a specialized cabinet sub-committee. This dedicated ministerial panel will be exclusively tasked with overseeing the entire fertilizer supply chain, managing equitable distribution, and recommending structural improvements to the current resource management systems to prevent any future shortages.
Composition of the Sub-Committee
The leadership of this newly mandated agricultural oversight panel has been entrusted to the Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. Currently, the Deputy CM oversees an array of crucial portfolios, including Public Works, Public Health Engineering, Urban Administration and Development, alongside the Sports and Youth Welfare departments. Operating under his direct chairmanship, the committee is expected to closely evaluate the on-ground realities of agricultural supplies. For instance, the Uttar Pradesh state government currently provides a highly robust 20 percent reservation, coupled with a generous three-year age relaxation, for vacancies across the UP Police setup. This encompasses vital roles such as Constable, PAC, Fireman, and the Mounted Police units. Similarly, the government of Haryana offers a variable employment quota ranging from 10 to 20 percent, alongside three to five years of upper age leniency, specifically targeted at recruitments for the Police, Forest Guard, Jail Warder, and Home Guard forces.
Expanding Options Across Other States
Furthermore, several other neighboring regions have firmly committed to securing the futures of these military veterans. The Madhya Pradesh government has successfully locked in a 10 percent quota for recruitments within its Police force, Armed Forces, and Fire Fighting units. Rajasthan has adopted an identical 10 percent reservation policy for its own Police Constable, Jail Guard, and Forest Guard recruitments. In the eastern corridor of the country, Odisha extends this 10 percent benefit across the entirety of its uniformed services. The northeastern states are also active participants in this nationwide employment push; Arunachal Pradesh has officially reserved 10 percent of roles in its State Police and Emergency Services, while Assam has implemented the exact same percentage for the Assam Police and allied state security forces.
