The death of a CRPF jawan has shaken Kundikala village near Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh. Rajaram Prajapati, who was posted in Jammu and Kashmir, had come home to his village on leave. After an argument with his wife, he reportedly walked out of the house in anger and hanged himself from a mango tree. The moment the family realised what had happened, cries broke out at home, and the incident quickly became the talk of the entire village.
It was his mother who first spotted him hanging from the noose and raised the alarm. The family rushed to bring him down and took him straight to the Medical College Hospital in Ambikapur, where doctors declared him dead. In the aftermath, the family has pointed the finger directly at his wife and her family, while also expressing deep anger over the way the police handled the matter.
Family Recounts The History Of Fights
The dead man's brother, Sukumar Prajapati, said the couple had quarrelled that night. Around 8 pm, Rajaram stepped out of the house and hanged himself. His mother later found him in that state, after which he was taken to hospital. According to Sukumar, Rajaram was posted in Jammu and Kashmir and had joined service in 2020.
The family says this was not the first such attempt. In 2025, Rajaram had also tried to take his own life. At that time he had consumed pesticide and released a video in which he made serious allegations against his wife and in-laws. He was somehow saved then and underwent treatment for about a month to a month and a half before returning to duty.
Allegations Of Police Inaction
Sukumar Prajapati said quarrels were a near-daily occurrence in the household. He said he had filed a complaint at the police station and asked them to take note, but nothing came of it. The family alleges that the jawan was being subjected to constant harassment.
For now, the police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Several people are being questioned in connection with the matter.
