The city of Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh recently found itself in the spotlight following the revelation that a major gangster from Jharkhand had been operating from within its borders. Sabbir Ali, a notorious criminal, had been living in the city for the past 13 years, successfully masking his true identity. During this prolonged period, he did not just settle into the community; he established a massive business empire worth crores of rupees.
Lavish Lifestyle and Strategic Partnerships
Sabbir Ali had built a lavish residence in Ambikapur, where he resided with his family. He had entered into a significant business partnership with a local bus operator named Baidul Khan. Through this collaboration, he was operating several buses and managing a fleet of over 40 ambulances. No one in the city had the slightest suspicion that the owner of such a large transport and ambulance business was actually a most-wanted criminal from Jharkhand.
Police Raid and Daring Escape
About 3 days ago, the Jharkhand Police received precise intelligence regarding the whereabouts of the gangster in Ambikapur. Acting swiftly on this information, the police conducted a surprise raid in the city. However, upon catching wind of the police operation, the gangster and one of his associates managed to flee the scene before they could be apprehended. Since then, the police have been conducting continuous raids in an effort to track them down.
Legal Action and Investigations
The legal noose is now tightening around those who provided shelter to the gangster or partnered with him in his business ventures. The Surguja Police have registered an FIR at the Kotwali police station against Baidul Khan, along with other individuals involved. Authorities are currently investigating the specific roles played by these associates in facilitating the criminal's stay and business operations.
Criminal Past and 'Gangs of Wasseypur'
Sabbir Ali's criminal history is deeply linked to the infamous 'Gangs of Wasseypur' in Jharkhand. He is the primary suspect in a brutal double murder that took place in Dhanbad on October 18, 2001. It is alleged that Sabbir Ali and his brother, Sahid Alam, openly shot and killed Najma Khatun and her sister Shehnaz Khatun, the mother and aunt of don Fahim Khan, respectively. Ever since that incident, Sabbir Ali had been absconding, eventually hiding in Ambikapur under an assumed name.
Mapping the Economic Network
ASP Amolak Singh Dhillon of Ambikapur stated that the police are now thoroughly investigating the gangster's entire economic network. The authorities are working to determine which other local individuals assisted him over these 13 years. Furthermore, they are identifying other potential accomplices and illegal properties to ensure his criminal infrastructure is completely dismantled.
