The cricket empire of Sanjiv Goenka, owner of the Indian Premier League franchise Lucknow Super Giants, is expanding further with a major international venture. A state-of-the-art high-performance center is set to be developed near the historic Old Trafford cricket ground in England, serving as a premier training hub for players across all teams owned by the RPSG Group.
New Training Center Planned Behind Old Trafford Stadium
The multi-million-pound project is the result of an agreement finalized between the RPSG Group and the Lancashire County Cricket Club. Under this partnership, land situated right behind the Old Trafford stadium will be acquired to construct a facility equipped with world-class amenities.
Sanjiv Goenka is not only the owner of the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL but also holds a 70 percent stake in the Manchester Super Giants franchise in the England and Wales Cricket Board's The Hundred league. Currently, the Manchester Super Giants sit second in the points table of the ongoing season of The Hundred, following one victory and one abandoned match.
Facility Equipped with World-Class Infrastructure
The project involves a complete overhaul of Lancashire's existing indoor training center into a modern facility. The new setup will feature advanced indoor nets, a high-tech gym, outdoor training areas, a dedicated sports science lab, and comprehensive medical facilities. The primary objective is to provide players with top-tier training and recovery environments.
Sanjiv Goenka described the partnership as part of his long-term vision for cricket. He noted that sports have always been central to the RPSG Group's investments, and this collaboration with Lancashire Cricket reflects a shared mindset to build exceptional developmental facilities for athletes. He believes the establishment will serve as a lasting legacy for future generations of cricketers.
Benefits for Lucknow, Manchester, and Durban Squads
The high-performance center will benefit all major teams under the RPSG umbrella, including the Lucknow Super Giants, Manchester Super Giants, and Durban Super Giants. Additionally, international and visiting foreign teams playing at Old Trafford will have opportunities to utilize the facility. The RPSG Group and Lancashire Cricket believe the project, combined with Old Trafford and the AO Farrington Cricket Ground, will establish a world-class cricket infrastructure providing modern resources for future success.
