Coming off a highly impressive campaign during the T20 World Cup 2026, the Zimbabwe cricket team is aiming to sustain its momentum. Zimbabwe Cricket has officially named a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. The selectors have largely maintained their faith in the core group of players who successfully reached the Super-8 stage of the recent World Cup. The responsibility of leading the side once again rests with the experienced all-rounder Sikandar Raza, under whose captaincy the team hopes to continue its winning streak.
Schedule and Introduction of New Talent
The T20I series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe is scheduled to take place on July 15, 17, and 19. All three matches will be hosted at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. As part of an effort to nurture fresh talent, the selectors have included young fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri for the first time, marking his entry into the international setup following strong domestic performances. Furthermore, batsman Milton Shumba has made his way back into the T20I squad. Shumba last represented Zimbabwe in a T20I during the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia against the Netherlands. Additionally, Ben Curran has managed to retain his spot in the lineup. Curran was originally brought into the fold as a replacement for an injured Brendan Taylor during the World Cup, and he remains eager to make his T20I debut in the upcoming series.
Team Composition and Player Availability
The selection process was inevitably influenced by the fitness and availability of certain key players. Spinner Graeme Cremer was ruled out of contention for this series due to a fracture in his left hand. Meanwhile, both Brendan Taylor and Tony Munyonga have been left out of the final 15-player selection for this tour. Currently, Bangladesh is on a tour of Zimbabwe, with the two nations already engaged in an ongoing three-match ODI series. The T20 encounters will commence immediately following the conclusion of the one-day matches.
