GHAZIABAD: With festive seasons approaching, administrative machinery has ramped up efforts to curb adulteration in edible goods across the region. In line with this initiative, food safety teams carried out a comprehensive inspection drive late Saturday evening in Kalcheena village, located within the jurisdiction of the Bhojpur police station in Ghaziabad. The sudden operation created a major stir in the locality as officials fanned out across multiple locations to inspect suspicious food products.
Heavy Police and PAC Deployment
To maintain law and order and prevent any disruptions during the operation, a heavy deployment of police personnel along with the Provincial Armed Constabulary was positioned at the site. Police teams from Masuri, Muradnagar, and several neighboring police stations took positions to provide robust security support to the visiting food safety officials.
Officials from Lucknow and Noida Participated
The raid saw participation not just from local units but also from officials representing Ghaziabad and Noida, alongside special teams dispatched directly from the Lucknow level. The authorities thoroughly examined various spots and collected samples of suspect edible goods. A total of five samples have been secured so far, which include four samples of khoya and one sample of milk.
Samples Sent for Laboratory Analysis
According to departmental officials, all the collected samples are being dispatched to a laboratory for detailed analysis. The true extent of any adulteration in these food products will only be definitively established once the test reports are generated. Subsequent legal steps will be initiated strictly based on the outcome of these reports.
Action Taken Under Senior Leadership Directives
This entire enforcement drive was executed under the direct instructions of Dr. Roshan Jacob, Secretary and Commissioner of the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) department under the Uttar Pradesh government. The inspection teams remained occupied with field checks and sample collection inside the village for a considerable duration before concluding the phase.
Seasonal Crackdown on Adulterators
It is worth noting that as festive periods draw closer, instances of adulteration in sweets tend to surge due to a sharp spike in market demand. Substandard milk and khoya are frequently used to manufacture sweets, posing serious health hazards to consumers. Consequently, extensive raids are organized during these specific periods to catch offenders and penalize them. It remains to be seen how much adulterated material will ultimately be seized in Ghaziabad ahead of Diwali.
Earlier, it was highlighted that strict measures and bans have been enforced against adulteration in dairy items under government directives.
