Panic gripped South Delhi's Fatehpur Beri area on Monday after a local gym trainer was shot dead in broad daylight. The victim has been identified as Vijay, who worked as a fitness instructor in the neighborhood. According to relatives, the deadly assault was carried out by four armed assailants who had masked their identities under helmets. The daylight killing caused widespread alarm across the locality, prompting the local police to rush to the spot, secure the area, and deploy multiple specialized teams to track down the fleeing attackers.
Lured Outside the Facility and Gunned Down
Sharing details of the brazen incident, Vijay's uncle Narendra stated that the trainer had reached the fitness center in the Aya Nagar area as part of his daily morning routine. Several clients were present inside the facility during the early hours. After those individuals finished their workout sessions and exited, Vijay stayed back inside the premises to organize his equipment and personal belongings. Unbeknownst to him, the four armed attackers had already taken up ambush positions nearby.
Instead of entering the fitness center directly, the assailants instructed a bystander outside to call Vijay out. The moment Vijay stepped out through the main entrance, the shooters ambushed him, opening fire with a barrage of bullets without giving him any opportunity to react or flee. Vijay collapsed instantly from multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot. The assailants fled the scene immediately after executing the attack. The victim's family received frantic word of the shooting at around 11:45 AM.
Court Hearing and Allegations of Past Animosity
The grieving family has alleged that deep-seated personal rivalry lay behind the deadly strike. Vijay's sister disclosed that he had a scheduled court hearing on Monday in connection with an earlier legal matter. While the family had been actively pursuing bail formalities for him, he was targeted and killed before any proceedings could advance that day. She also named specific suspects, accusing them of orchestrating the fatal shooting.
Relatives explained that a homicide had previously taken place in their village, where Vijay was accused of driving a getaway vehicle, leading to his name surfacing during that inquiry. The family maintains that this historical episode fueled simmering hostility, ultimately culminating in Vijay being targeted for retaliatory vengeance.
The Ratan Murder Case and 72 Rounds of Firing
Elaborating further on the roots of the dispute, Narendra referenced a previous high-profile crime in the village involving the murder of a man named Ratan. In that earlier killing, assailants had fired approximately 72 rounds of bullets in a brutal show of force. The family strongly suspects that individuals linked to the Ratan murder case planned and executed Monday's deadly assault on Vijay.
Narendra contended that Vijay had been falsely implicated in Ratan's murder case without substantial involvement. Because his name had been drawn into that violent episode, rival associates continued to hold a grudge against him, which the family believes directly motivated Monday's targeted execution.
Surveillance Footage Scrutiny at Babbu's Gym
The fitness center where Vijay served as a trainer is owned by Babbu, an individual from within the victim's extended family. Following the distress alert, senior police teams arrived at the Aya Nagar premises, cordoned off the crime scene, and gathered crucial forensic evidence. Investigators have collected and begun analyzing security camera footage from the gym and surrounding transit corridors.
Police personnel are tracking the movement trajectories captured on surveillance tapes to determine the route used by the helmet-clad suspects during their arrival and subsequent escape. Law enforcement authorities confirmed that multiple investigation squads are currently probing every angle, including the family's allegations of long-standing enmity and past criminal cross-connections, to identify and apprehend all four culprits.
