A sophisticated cheating syndicate orchestrating fraudulent activities in a major banking recruitment examination has been uncovered in Kanpur by law enforcement authorities. The Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh successfully apprehended four active members of this network involved in manipulating the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection tests. The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Avnish Yadav, Ashish Kumar, Rahul Kumar Sinha, and Ankit Sachan. Operating on a financial quid pro quo basis, this gang used to deploy clever solvers or syndicate members themselves as proxy scribes on behalf of Persons with Disabilities candidates, systematically assisting them in clearing the competitive tests through unfair means.
Recoveries Made and Masterminds Named
During the operation and subsequent searches, the STF seized a significant cache of electronic devices and suspicious items from the possession of the accused. The recoveries include five mobile phones, four Aadhaar cards, three PAN cards, a driving license, a passport, and two bank ATM cards. Additionally, investigators recovered an iPad, a WagonR car, several fabricated documents, and 2,750 in cash. Intensive interrogation of the suspects revealed the involvement of key masterminds, namely Manish Kumar Mishra and Raju Gupta, a resident of Bihar. Following these developments, an official case has been registered at the Sachendi police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Public Examinations Act, while further probes remain active.

The crackdown originated from concrete intelligence received by the STF headquarters regarding malpractices during the online preliminary examinations held on August 22 and 23, 2026, for the CRP PO/MT-XVI posts. During the final shift on August 22 at the 'ION Digital Zone IDZ' Bhaila Mau examination center located within the Sachendi police station limits, professional solvers hailing from Delhi and Bihar were found impersonating genuine PWD category applicants as fake scribes. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, authorities and the center observer intercepted the suspects immediately after the conclusion of the test. Upon uncovering substantial evidence during initial questioning, formal arrests were executed.

Rigorous legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested persons at the Sachendi police station in Kanpur Nagar, invoking stringent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Uttar Pradesh's strict anti-cheating legislation, the Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations Act.
