A startling case of fabricated evidence and alleged police misconduct has rocked the Punjab Police department in Khanna. Sukhdev Singh, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) attached to the local Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) staff, stands accused of orchestrating an elaborate conspiracy to falsely implicate Shiv Sena leader Mahant Kashmir Giri in an illicit narcotics case. While law enforcement initially claimed to have pulled off a legitimate drug recovery, private security camera footage from Giri's residence, situated near Khatikan Chowk, completely unraveled the official narrative.
Civilian Clothes Entry and Planting Contraband Beneath Mattress
According to the documented sequence of events, Sukhdev Singh made a quiet entry into the politician's bedroom wearing civilian clothes shortly before the formal raid party made its appearance. Once inside the room, Singh allegedly concealed a packet containing heroin directly under the mattress before swiftly walking back out. However, the police personnel failed to realize that the room was equipped with an active surveillance camera capturing every movement in high definition.
Moments later, the official raid unfolded. As soon as the recorded clips surfaced on social media platforms and sparked widespread outrage, top brass within the Punjab police establishment stepped in immediately to control the reputational damage, issuing an immediate suspension order against the accused ASI while initiating an official inquiry into his actions.
Raid Party Claims 30 Grams Heroin Seizure from Bedroom
Following the setup, a formal police contingent arrived at the residence, comprising Sadar Police Station SHO Vijaypal Singh, City-2 Police Station SHO Tarwinder Kumar Bedi, along with several other supporting officers. During their targeted search of the premises, the team made an official claim of uncovering roughly 30 grams of heroin from beneath the exact mattress where Sukhdev had allegedly planted the material minutes earlier. Based on this claimed recovery, law enforcement arrested Giri on drug trafficking charges.
SIT Formed by SSP to Probe All Dimensions
Addressing the fallout from the viral footage, Khanna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Darpan Ahluwalia formally stated, “A video circulating on social media has been taken into official notice. To investigate every aspect of this entire incident, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted. The implicated police personnel has been relieved of his present duties and placed under immediate suspension, with deeper proceedings currently underway.”
Driver Interrogation Pretext Faces Deep Scrutiny
At the outset, the entire police intervention was projected as an authentic operation against regional drug networks. Yet, the incriminating visual evidence has raised grave doubts over the procedural integrity of the recovery. The recording shows Sukhdev entering alone and tucking something beneath the bedding, followed closely by the raid unit heading straight for the identical spot to 'discover' 30 grams of heroin.
Police authorities had originally justified their raid by claiming that Giri's driver, identified as Gurjant Singh alias 'Janta', had been taken into custody earlier for possessing 7.5 grams of heroin. Officials claimed that interrogating Gurjant Singh had brought Mahant Kashmir Giri's name to the surface, purportedly leading law enforcement directly to the politician's Khatikan Chowk residence. The credibility of that entire narrative is now under intense examination by the newly appointed SIT.
