In a major development against transnational criminal syndicates, United States law enforcement authorities have apprehended Harry Boxer, a key operative of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who operated its overseas extortion network. The gangster, whose real name is Harichand Jat, was taken into custody late at night in California. The arrest was executed following actionable intelligence provided by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police alongside the Haryana Police Special Task Force (STF).
Extradition Process via Central Bureau of Investigation
Following his arrest on American soil, Indian authorities are preparing to initiate formal legal procedures to secure his custody and bring him back to India. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), operating as the national nodal agency for Interpol and cross-border police coordination, will facilitate communication with American authorities. Given the extensive list of serious offenses pending against him across several Indian states, investigators are working to expedite the extradition process.
From Boxing Aspirant to Criminal Syndicate Operator
Originating from the Bamasur locality in the Kotputli-Behror district of Rajasthan, Harichand Jat led a very different life before turning to organized crime. At one stage, he was actively training to enlist in the Indian Army and the police department while simultaneously preparing for government competitive examinations. During his residence in Jaipur, he took up competitive boxing, which eventually earned him the alias 'Harry Boxer' in underworld circles. For a period, he even worked professionally as a boxing trainer before abandoning athletics for the underworld.
Ascent in Lawrence Bishnoi Network and US Entry
As divisions deepened between jailed gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi and his Canada-based associate Goldy Brar, Bishnoi entrusted critical responsibilities of the syndicate to Harry Boxer. The operative is regarded as an exceptionally close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi's brother, Anmol Bishnoi. According to police records, Harry Boxer entered the United States illegally in 2024 using an undocumented migration pathway known as the donkey route. Once settled abroad, he directed extortion calls and coordinated gang activities targeting businessmen across regions.
Interstate Criminal Record and Celebrity Targets
Harry Boxer faces extensive criminal dossiers across multiple states, including Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. His charges range from murder and attempt to murder to armed assault, extortion, and firing outside commercial properties. Within Rajasthan alone, numerous cases involving robberies, gang fights, and murderous assaults are registered against him in districts such as Jaipur, Sikar, Alwar, and Dholpur. Furthermore, his name surfaced in international incidents, notably the firing incident at comedian Kapil Sharma's cafe in Canada, as well as intimidation threats issued to Bollywood director Rohit Shetty and actor Ranveer Singh.
