A brutal gangland attack claimed the life of a history-sheeter late Sunday night in Tamil Nadu's Madurai district. Assailants armed with edged weapons ambushed the victim while he was consuming alcohol at a deserted public property, inflicting severe facial wounds that killed him instantly at the location.
Midnight Ambush Near Highway Facility
The violent incident took place around 2 AM along the Madurai-Dindigul National Highway, within the premises of an abandoned old panchayat office. Surya, also known as 'Kuttisaku', a resident of Sadachiyamman Nagar in Samayanallur, was sitting inside the compound when an armed group suddenly intercepted him. Caught off guard, he was subjected to repeated strikes primarily targeted at his face. The brutality of the onslaught left him with fatal lacerations, causing his immediate death before the culprits fled into the night.
Victim Faced More Than 10 Criminal Charges
Upon receiving alerts regarding the bloodshed, personnel from the Samayanallur police station reached the crime scene to secure the area. The body was subsequently dispatched to the Rajaji Government Hospital in Madurai for post-mortem analysis. Police documentation revealed that Surya had a prolonged history with law enforcement, having more than 10 pending criminal cases against him, which included charges of murder and assault.
Investigation Points Toward Gang Rivalry
Preliminary inquiries led investigators to believe that long-standing enmity and retaliation motivated the homicide. Given the victim's past criminal entanglements, multiple individuals may have harbored grudges against him. Senior officials confirmed that an intensive probe is currently underway, with specialized police units actively searching for the absconding gang members responsible for the lethal assault.
