A sensational double murder triggered by an internal dispute over organizational positions rocked the Kanipura area near Lucky Darbar Dhaba in the Chimanganj Mandi police station limits of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, late Wednesday night. A bitter clash erupted between two factions associated with Karni Sena, escalating rapidly into a deadly armed assault. The deceased have been identified as Rahul Singh and Jitendra Singh, who succumbed to their injuries on the spot. Two of their associates, Pappu Jat and Shrawan Kumar Rao, sustained severe injuries during the violence. Police personnel rushed to the scene immediately after receiving news of the incident and shifted the injured individuals to the hospital, where medical staff declared two of them dead on arrival. Law enforcement authorities have registered an official case and launched an extensive search operation to apprehend the perpetrators.
Reconciliation Dinner Escalates Into Fatal Dispute
Investigating officers revealed that the primary catalyst behind the violent altercation was a lingering dispute concerning posts and hierarchy within Karni Sena. On the night of the incident, members of both rival groups were sharing a meal together at Lucky Darbar Dhaba located in the Kanipura region. The initial purpose of this gathering was to negotiate a compromise and settle friction that had boiled over two days earlier between Shakti Singh and Rahul Singh. Although the dinner proceeded peacefully, heated arguments re-emerged soon after the meal concluded. The verbal confrontation quickly deteriorated, turning what was intended to be a peace meeting into a chaotic and bloody brawl.
Chilling Phone Call Warning Triggers Rush to the Scene
During the altercation, accused Shakti Singh dialed the mobile phone of Rahul Singh's brother at around 11:00 PM. Shakti Singh issued a stark warning during the call, urging the brother to save Rahul if he could. Alarmed by the threatening call, the brother immediately alerted their maternal uncle, Hemant Singh Chauhan. Recognizing the imminent danger, family members rushed toward the dhaba in an effort to rescue Rahul. However, by the time the family arrived at the location, the assailants had already executed the crime and fled into the night, leaving behind a horrific scene.
Armed Group Launches Attack Amid Serious Mafia Allegations
Upon reaching the scene, family members discovered Rahul Singh and his friend Jitendra Singh lying in a pool of blood with multiple severe wounds inflicted by knives and swords. Their companions, Pappu Jat and Shrawan Kumar Rao, were also found critically wounded. Hemant Singh Chauhan, the uncle of the deceased, stated that an armed mob of roughly 10 to 15 attackers had ambushed the victims. Chauhan further alleged that one of the primary accused, Sonu Banjara, operates as a land mafia member with ties to a BJP MLA and routinely drives a vehicle with an MLA designation written on it. The lethal ambush was allegedly orchestrated by Shakti Singh alongside Sonu Banjara, Anna, Arpit, Ramesh, and several other accomplices.
Police Register Case Based on Victim's Statement
Chimanganj Mandi Station House Officer Vivek Kanodia confirmed that both parties were initially sitting together, sharing dinner and attempting to resolve past differences, when fresh fighting erupted suddenly. Shakti Singh called upon his associates Arpit, Ramesh, Sonu Banjara, Anna, and others to carry out the brutal attack on Rahul and his friends. Law enforcement registered the criminal case based on the detailed statement provided by injured victim Shrawan Kumar Rao. The complaint names five primary accused alongside several unidentified individuals. Police have rounded up several suspects for questioning and are executing targeted raids to track down and arrest all remaining absconding assailants.
