Authorities in the national capital are advancing infrastructure work along the Outer Ring Road to curb frequent pedestrian accidents and improve commuter safety. Construction on a modern double-decker skywalk and footover bridge is progressing rapidly at Madhuban Chowk, aiming to provide a safer transit environment for thousands of daily travelers.
Project Cost and Completion Timeline
Being executed by the Public Works Department, the infrastructure project involves an expenditure of 9.62 crore rupees. Officials noted that roughly 60 percent of the construction work is already finished, with a targeted completion deadline of November 30, 2026. The initiative is designed to eliminate hazardous street crossings on high-speed vehicular corridors.
Connecting Key Transit and Judicial Hubs
The upcoming skywalk and footover bridge will establish seamless connections between the Pitampura metro station, Madhuban Chowk metro station, and the Rohini District Court. This dedicated elevated pathway is expected to benefit metro commuters, legal professionals, court staff, litigants, and local residents by offering a grade-separated route across busy intersections.
Mitigating Accidents and Traffic Congestion
Once opened, pedestrians will no longer need to cross the heavily trafficked Outer Ring Road at surface level, substantially lowering the risk of collisions between people and automobiles. Furthermore, diverting foot traffic away from the main roadway will help streamline vehicle movement and alleviate chronic congestion at Madhuban Chowk.
