A harrowing incident unfolded in southeast Delhi where a 30-year-old dance teacher jumped into the Yamuna River, driven by severe distress over his inability to pay his mobile phone installments due to declining earnings. According to Delhi Police, the incident took place last Friday at around 8:30 PM near Bhola Ghat in the Kalindi Kunj area. Patrolling police officers in the vicinity received an alert that a person had plunged into the river, prompting an immediate response from the local law enforcement team.
Prompt Rescue Operation Saves Life
Upon reaching the spot, the Delhi Police team swiftly notified the flood department, which deployed a rescue boat to the location. Fortunately, the swift coordination between the police and the rescue team paid off, and the man was successfully pulled out of the Yamuna River safely. Authorities confirmed that the individual is completely unharmed and out of danger. Police officials subsequently began interacting with him to understand his situation and provide necessary emotional and administrative support.
Struggling With Monthly Mobile EMI
During the police inquiry, it was revealed that the man resides in Sanjay Colony, Okhla, and works as both a dance teacher and a gardener to earn a living. He lives with his wife and two children. He informed the police that his income had dropped significantly over the past few months, making it extremely difficult for him to clear his monthly mobile phone EMI. The mounting financial burden and constant anxiety over failing to pay the installment pushed him to the brink of taking such an extreme step.
