The Delhi Taxi and Tourist Transporters and Tour Operators Association has announced a demonstration march to Parliament on August 4 to voice their strong opposition against the implementation of ethanol-blended petrol, commonly known as E20 fuel. Transport operators and vehicle owners are organizing this movement to highlight the operational challenges they face due to the new fuel policy.
Key Concerns Raised Over E20 Fuel
During a press conference, Sanjay Samrat, the president of the association, addressed the growing anxieties among transport operators and vehicle owners regarding the usage of E20 fuel. In a symbolic gesture of protest, he held a sugarcane in his hand while addressing the media, pointing out that the fuel's raw material source is directly affecting their livelihood.
Highlighting the feedback received from vehicle owners, Sanjay Samrat said, "Many transporters have reported issues with fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, and vehicle performance." According to the association, drivers are experiencing a noticeable drop in mileage and a significant increase in vehicle upkeep expenses since the introduction of the blended fuel.
The Planned Parliament March
With discontent rising among transport operators, the association has formulated a strategy to draw the government's attention to their grievances. The scheduled march on August 4 is expected to see participation from a large number of taxi drivers and tour operators, who demand a reassessment of the current ethanol-blending mandates to protect their businesses from rising operational costs.
