Bollywood actor Salman Khan has moved the Delhi High Court seeking an injunction against the release of the upcoming film 'Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy'. Presiding over the matter, the High Court has directed the makers of the film to submit a response regarding its theatrical release schedule. The movie is reportedly inspired by the high-profile blackbuck poaching case involving Salman Khan. Controversy erupted immediately after the teaser launch, as the lead actor bears a striking physical resemblance to Salman Khan, prompting the superstar to take legal action.
Court Proceedings And Makers' Stance
During the hearing before the bench of Justice Jyoti Singh, the counsel representing the filmmakers informed the court that 'Kala Hiran' is not currently in a position to be released. The makers stated that the film has not yet received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification, which prevents its theatrical exhibition. The court has instructed the producers to file their formal replies ahead of the next hearing, which has been scheduled for September 30.
Personality Rights And Promotional Material
Salman Khan's counsel argued during the proceedings that the promotional material utilized by the makers clearly mirrors the actor's persona. The lead character in the film not only shares facial similarities with Salman Khan but also sports a blue bracelet on his wrist, closely resembling the signature accessory worn by the actor. Salman Khan approached the judiciary citing the infringement of his personality rights. In an earlier hearing, the court had barred the unauthorized use of the actor's face, likeness, or personality traits, granting significant relief to the actor in this ongoing legal dispute.
