The newly released Malayalam feature film Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has taken the theatrical box office by storm, proving once again that content-driven cinema can achieve monumental commercial success without astronomical budgets. Starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, the movie has comfortably entered its third week of theatrical run. Even after spending more than a fortnight in theatres, the film continues to draw massive audiences, showing no signs of slowing down and establishing a rock-solid presence across screens.
Nivin Pauly Secures His Biggest Career Triumph
This film has turned out to be a massive career milestone for lead actor Nivin Pauly, handing him the biggest box office triumph of his professional journey. Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has successfully surpassed the entire lifetime worldwide earnings of his previous record-holder, Sarvam Maya. Industry tracking data reveals that while Sarvam Maya concluded its global run with around ₹131 crore, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit had already amassed a stunning worldwide gross of ₹251.65 crore by its 16th day of release. This means the movie managed to more than double the lifetime earnings of Nivin's previous best in just over two weeks.
By its 20th day, the film's global theatrical collections reached an even more impressive ₹279.50 crore. Nivin Pauly has openly expressed his joy regarding this achievement, calling it the most significant hit of his career. He attributed this phenomenal success to the creative vision of director Girish A.D. and the immense support received from family audiences, who have turned up in large numbers to watch the film.
Mamitha Baiju Enters an Elite Club of Actresses
The remarkable performance of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has also catapulted lead actress Mamitha Baiju into an exclusive league of Indian cinema. With this film crossing major milestones, Mamitha has achieved the rare distinction of starring in three blockbuster films within a single calendar year, with her latest venture comfortably crossing the ₹200 crore benchmark. This achievement makes her the first-ever South Indian actress to deliver three films of this scale in one year.
On a national scale, she is only the third Indian actress to achieve this historic feat, joining the ranks of Bollywood superstars Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt. Mamitha's popularity and commercial viability have seen an exponential rise following her standout performance in the hit film Premalu. This latest success further cements her position as a bankable star capable of pulling massive crowds to theatres.
Overtaking Drishyam 3 and Lokah Chapter 1
In its relentless box office run, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has shattered the records of some of Malayalam cinema's biggest modern blockbusters. During its third week, the film overtook the lifetime worldwide collections of Mohanlal's highly anticipated franchise sequel Drishyam 3, which had collected ₹239.83 crore globally. Additionally, the film has also outpaced the theatrical earnings of Kalyani Priyadarshan's superhero project Lokah Chapter 1, writing a fresh chapter in Malayalam cinema's commercial history.
