The results for the executive committee elections of the Cine and Television Artists Association, commonly known as CINTAA, have concluded with actor Padmini Kolhapure securing the top spot. Padmini Kolhapure claimed the highest number of votes at 604, while fellow actor Poonam Dhillon came in second place by garnering 601 votes. Following their electoral success, both artists addressed the ongoing internal turmoil within the organization and directly confronted the accusations directed at them.
Padmini Kolhapure Reacts to the Victory
Following the election outcome, Padmini Kolhapure expressed gratitude toward all the voters who participated. She described the win as a certificate of trust and thanked everyone who placed her at the top position. She noted that within the committee, no individual member ranks first or last, emphasizing that everyone stood together during difficult times and that solidarity remains the most important achievement.
Addressing the Theft and Document Allegations
During the intense period of conflict within CINTAA, members Upasana Singh and Kunickaa Sadanand had accused Padmini Kolhapure and Poonam Dhillon of improperly removing essential organizational documents and belongings. Accusations of theft were also leveled against both actors. Responding to these claims, Poonam Dhillon explained that the organization's bank accounts had been frozen, creating an urgent need for funds to manage daily operations and member welfare expenses. Consequently, a decision was made to break a fixed deposit to cover these financial requirements.
Poonam Dhillon clarified firmly that breaking the fixed deposit was not done for any personal gain. She stated explicitly that neither she nor Padmini Kolhapure, nor any other committee member, diverted organizational funds into their personal bank accounts. She maintained that proper written accounts exist for every single rupee that was spent.
Clarification on the Three-Year Tenure
Poonam Dhillon also addressed questions surrounding the controversial three-year committee tenure. She explained that no decision within the organization is ever made unilaterally according to anyone's personal whim. Instead, matters are first brought before an annual general meeting where resolutions are formally passed. According to her, implementing any regulatory modification requires completing established formal procedures, including sending proposals to the registrar in accordance with the constitution before changes take effect.
She pointed out that the decision regarding the three-year tenure was finalized during the annual general meeting held in 2025. At that specific time, Upasana Singh served as the secretary of the organization and was the one who announced the decision during the meeting. With the elections now won, Padmini Kolhapure and Poonam Dhillon are turning their attention toward advancing the organization's administrative work while standing firm against the earlier allegations regarding organizational funds.
