During the production phase of Prem Rog, Anand had traveled to Mumbai but unexpectedly returned to Delhi by flight within twenty-four hours without informing Raj Kapoor. His wife was utterly surprised by his sudden homecoming. When he inquired about their young daughter Shaili, who was sleeping at the time, he picked her up in his arms and began imagining her growing up and eventually getting married, already well aware of the emotional requirements of the film's narrative.
Emotional Roots and Creation of the Masterpiece
The acclaimed lyricist, known for penning popular tracks like 'Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai', explained that overwhelmed by paternal affection for his daughter's future wedding, the words for 'Yeh Galiyan Yeh Chabara' naturally flowed from him. Having written the song after returning to Delhi behind Raj Kapoor's back, Kapoor himself left the shooting schedule the very next day and traveled to Delhi. He summoned Anand to a hotel to meet him, where the lyricist presented the newly written piece. Kapoor loved the composition instantly, and the team subsequently traveled back to Mumbai. Raj Kapoor summoned Laxmikant-Pyarelal, and a rigorous seven-day process began to compose the final melody for the track.
