Anticipation surrounding the upcoming South Indian feature 'Om' has reached new heights among moviegoers across the country. The project has already generated massive buzz because it marks the very first on-screen collaboration between Dhanush and veteran screen icon Mammootty. Building on that momentum, the production team has now cleared the air around Sreeleela's role in the film. The young actress is set to portray a character named Roja, and the unveiling of her screen presence has sparked fresh excitement across social channels.
Roja Character Reveal and Glimpses of 'Senjudare' Track
Helmed by director Rajkumar Periasamy, the makers alongside production banner Wunderbar Films shared a short preview clip online. The video gives viewers a peek into Sreeleela's charm while presenting melodious glimpses from the track 'Senjudare'. Wunderbar Films formally announced through the update that she brings Roja to life on screen. Enthusiastic listeners will not have to wait long for the full track, as the third single from the album is scheduled to drop on November 4, setting the stage for the film's theatrical debut on November 20.
Sai Pallavi Takes Charge as IPS Officer Nithya Reddy
Beyond Sreeleela's entry, Sai Pallavi commands a pivotal, high-stakes role in the narrative. She essays the character of Nithya Reddy, a sharp and upright IPS officer. According to the character's background, Nithya begins her career in law enforcement within the Andhra Pradesh police force before rising through merit to become an Additional Superintendent in the Central Bureau of Investigation. Her stellar record then earns her an assignment tied to a crucial mission linked with Interpol.
Nithya is depicted as an uncompromising and deeply perceptive officer who earned the complete confidence of top brass early in her career through sheer competence and field experience. The high-risk investigation, codenamed Operation 'Om', rests entirely on her shoulders. Notably, director Rajkumar Periasamy and Sai Pallavi previously joined hands on the film 'Amaran', and their reunion here brings significant narrative promise to this intense thriller.
Dhanush and Mammootty Team Up Against Red Sandalwood Backdrop
The primary highlight drawing cinephiles toward the film remains the historic casting of Dhanush alongside Mammootty. Despite their celebrated journeys in Indian cinema, this project represents the first time both stars share frame space. Mammootty steps in as a character named Karthikeyan, whereas Dhanush takes on a grounded persona as a woodcutter. Earlier teaser footage established a gritty canvas for their dynamics, positioning the narrative squarely around the illicit felling and smuggling of red sandalwood.
The teaser previewed intense crackdowns by law enforcement forces that leave everyday laborers trapped in grave danger. It is during this violent escalation that Dhanush's character steps forward to protect and support the vulnerable workers. Adding further gravitas to the ensemble, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah also features in the film. Bringing together seasoned talent from diverse film industries gives the production an expansive, pan-Indian dimension.
Rescheduled Release Date and Industry Coordination
The theatrical rollout for 'Om' was initially mapped out for October 16, but scheduling considerations prompted a change of plans. Dhanush addressed audiences directly to share the decision behind postponing the release. He explained that moving the date was an intentional gesture of respect toward Rajinikanth's anticipated tentpole 'Jailer 2'. Furthermore, actor Suriya's film was already locked in for the lucrative Diwali window, making it prudent to clear space and avoid unnecessary box office cannibalization. With new scheduling in place, 'Om' is slated to arrive on cinema screens on November 20.
