Renowned singer Adnan Sami has opened up in a recent interview about the reasons behind leaving Pakistan and the subsequent changes in his life and career after acquiring Indian citizenship. In an interview with trade analyst Komal Nahta, Adnan Sami stated that he now belongs to India and India belongs to him. The singer explained that even when he was a Pakistani citizen, he never faced any trouble finding work in India. However, things shifted on a deeper level once he obtained Indian citizenship, cementing a permanent sense of belonging.
Why He Decided to Leave Pakistan
During the conversation, when asked why he chose to leave Pakistan, he revealed that his career path in the Pakistani music industry was not nearly as promising as the opportunities available in India. Since he was not receiving the right breaks and support over there, he ultimately decided to relocate and build his future in India.

The singer also shared that it was Asha Bhosle who encouraged him to come over to India. He first arrived in India back in 2001 on a visitor visa, after which he worked extensively in the Indian entertainment industry and earned massive fame. In 2015, when his passport was not renewed in Pakistan, he formally requested citizenship from the Indian government, leading the Ministry of Home Affairs to grant him Indian citizenship in 2016.
