As the festive spirit takes over, the city of Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a significant shift in consumer preferences, with eco-friendly earthen products taking center stage over plastic and Chinese decorative items. Ahead of Diwali and Chhath Puja, a specialized stall set up near the water tank adjacent to Mahila Mahavidyalaya has emerged as a major attraction for shoppers. Offering a diverse lineup of items ranging from daily kitchen utensils to decorative masterpieces, the venture highlights both traditional craftsmanship and sustainable living.
Diverse Product Range From Clay Cookers to Decorative Statues
Stall operator Ankit explained that the product inventory has been designed to meet both traditional and contemporary festive needs. Beyond conventional diyas and religious idols, the shop features handcrafted earthen mugs, water bottles, drinking glasses, storage jars, and specialized curd containers. One of the primary attractions drawing widespread consumer curiosity is a fully functional clay pressure cooker, designed to offer healthy and natural cooking options.
On the decorative front, the stall offers intricately sculpted Kolkata style idols and Lord Ganesha statues crafted strictly from pure natural clay. Additionally, Head Buddha statues and various home decor pieces are available for shoppers looking to add an aesthetic touch to their homes. Coffee and tea enthusiasts can also find a complete clay tea set among the display items.
Durability and Pricing Breakdown
Highlighting the advantages of clay products over synthetic substitutes, Ankit noted that while plastic and imported Chinese decorations degrade quickly, authentic clay utensils offer long durability if handled carefully and protected from physical impact. Using earthen utensils also retains the natural taste of food and beverages while preventing environmental pollution.
The pricing structure has been kept accessible for buyers across budget levels. Small utensils and earthen mugs start at ₹150. Specialized Lord Ganesha idols and custom utensils range between ₹400 and ₹500. The Head Buddha statues are priced at ₹450, while the complete clay tea set is available for up to ₹850.
