Ingredients Required for the Recipe
To prepare this flavorful and filling sandwich, gather the following ingredients. You can choose either white or brown bread based on your personal dietary preferences.
- Bread Slices: 4 (white or brown bread)
- Boiled Potatoes: 2 (mashed thoroughly)
- Paneer: 1/2 cup (grated)
- Boiled Sweet Corn: 1/2 cup
- Onion: 1 small (finely chopped)
- Green Chilli: 1 (finely chopped)
- Fresh Coriander Leaves: finely chopped (to taste)
- Spices & Seasoning: 1/2 tsp chaat masala, 1/2 tsp chilli flakes, 1/2 tsp oregano, salt and black pepper powder to taste
- Butter: for toasting or grilling the sandwich
- Optional Creaminess: 2 tsp mayonnaise or cheese spread
Preparing the Flavorful Stuffing
The heart of a great sandwich lies in its filling. To make the stuffing, place a pan on the stove and melt half a teaspoon of butter over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and green chilli, sautéing them until the onions turn soft and translucent. Once sautéed, add the mashed boiled potatoes, grated paneer, and boiled sweet corn into the pan. Stir all the components well so they combine evenly.
Next, season the mixture with chaat masala, chilli flakes, oregano, black pepper powder, and salt according to your taste. If you prefer an extra rich and creamy texture that appeals especially to kids, fold in 2 teaspoons of mayonnaise or cheese spread into the warm filling. Finally, sprinkle fresh chopped coriander leaves over the mix, give it a final stir, and remove the pan from heat. Your flavorful sandwich filling is ready.
Assembling and Toasting the Sandwich
To assemble the sandwich, take two slices of bread. For added taste, spread spicy green chutney or butter on one slice and tomato ketchup on the second slice. Take a generous portion of the prepared potato, paneer, and corn stuffing and spread it evenly across the surface of the first bread slice. Cover it with the second bread slice and press down gently so the filling stays intact.
Preheat a tawa or a sandwich maker. Apply a thin layer of butter on the outer sides of the bread. Place the assembled sandwich on the hot tawa and cook over low to medium flame. Once the bottom turns golden brown and crisp, flip the sandwich carefully, apply a little butter, and toast the other side until equally crisp. Slice the warm, golden sandwich diagonally and serve immediately with hot tea, mint chutney, or tomato ketchup.
