While power department authorities recently replaced aging utility infrastructure across adjacent rural areas, a badly damaged pole supporting a heavy transformer in Dayalpur has been completely overlooked. Bare, exposed live wires dangle around the structure, turning the spot into an active electrocution hazard for villagers, passing school children, and roaming cattle. Despite repeated formal petitions highlighting the imminent catastrophe, authorities have yet to take any corrective action.
Dangerous Location at Blind Turn Disrupts Daily Traffic
The positioning of the heavy electrical unit right at a sharp street corner presents severe operational risks for daily road users. Because the transformer sits right on the curve, turning vehicles face restricted sightlines and significant maneuvering difficulties. The installation creates a continuous threat of vehicular collisions, as drivers often have to swerve abruptly to avoid scraping past the broken support pole. Villagers argue that if the utility equipment is not moved to a secure and designated open perimeter promptly, the power department must be held directly accountable for any resulting casualties.
Local accounts confirm that the site has already witnessed multiple hazardous electrocution incidents. Resident Jagdeep Hooda stated that several local children have previously experienced electric shocks after coming into accidental contact with current leaking from the exposed setup. Furthermore, stray current from the damaged unit earlier claimed the life of a dog. Residents insist that placing such high-voltage electrical hardware on a narrow turning point represents a severe civic oversight that requires immediate rectification.
Formal Petitions to Electricity Officials Yield No Response
Villagers have expressed severe frustration with the administrative apathy displayed by utility engineers. Jagdeep Hooda noted that he personally submitted a written application outlining the hazard to the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the electricity department, yet no inspection or corrective work followed. The discriminatory pace of maintenance is evident in the fact that while overhead poles along the stretch from Chandawali through to Atali village were systematically removed and upgraded, this broken installation inside Dayalpur was left unattended.
The structural pole bearing the full load of the heavy transformer remains cracked and fragile, vulnerable to sudden collapse during bad weather or high winds. Another local resident, Nanak Singh Hooda, emphasized that the dangling live cables pose an unending threat to the peace of mind of local families. He urged power distribution managers to intervene proactively and neutralize the hazard before an irreversible disaster takes place.
Villagers Demand Swift Relocation to Safe Site
Widespread anxiety has galvanized community members to step forward and demand urgent engineering interventions. Resident Ajay Singh pointed out that the exposed wires sit completely uninsulated right next to a compromised concrete pillar. Any unexpected structural failure or electrical sparking could directly jeopardize nearby pedestrians and residences. Consequently, the village is uniformly demanding that the equipment be decommissioned from the street corner and shifted to a secure, isolated plot.
Echoing these concerns, resident Rohtas remarked that the flawed physical positioning of the transformer remains the root cause of the daily peril. Because tractors, commercial freight, cars, and two-wheelers constantly navigate the narrow corner, the likelihood of a vehicle crashing into the frail pole remains critically high. The community maintains that the power department must act immediately on these safety warnings and relocate the transformer without further delay.
