A major corruption scandal has surfaced surrounding a high-profile double murder investigation in Haryana. The law enforcement department faced severe embarrassment after anti-corruption authorities trapped and arrested a serving police official while he was accepting illegal gratification. The operation was successfully executed by the Jhajjar vigilance unit, shining a harsh spotlight on administrative misconduct within the local police infrastructure.
Vigilance Trap at Sampla Police Station
The Jhajjar vigilance team apprehended Assistant Sub-Inspector Deenbandhu, who was posted at the Sampla police station in Rohtak district, while he was allegedly taking a cash bribe of 10,000 rupees. The accused officer reportedly demanded a total of 50,000 rupees in exchange for protecting an accused individual from the ongoing case and ensuring that he would face fewer physical beatings inside the prison lockup. The complainant, Subhash, a resident of Hasangarh village, reported to the vigilance department that the police officer had already extracted 40,000 rupees from him earlier. To catch the officer accepting the remaining 10,000 rupees, the vigilance squad meticulously planned a trap and successfully caught him red-handed inside the station premises.
Background of the Murder Investigation
Complainant Subhash Chandra is a farmer by profession who manages agricultural land for his livelihood. His son Nitesh, also known as Mendis, along with his friend Nitesh, also known as Bachcha, had been arrested in connection with a high-profile double murder case. The investigating officer, Deenbandhu, had made a phone call to Subhash Chandra to inform him about his son's detention. Following this, Subhash Chandra traveled to the Sampla police station accompanied by two fellow villagers, Neeraj alias Bulli and Neeraj alias Tittu, where they met with the accused ASI to discuss the matter.
Details of the Live-In Couple Killing
The underlying crime took place within the jurisdiction of the Sampla police station in Hasangarh, where a couple living in a live-in relationship, Sandeep and Kavita, were brutally killed on October 5. Following the murders, the perpetrators disposed of their bodies by throwing them into a canal, and the remains were later recovered in Jhajjar. Investigators noted that Sandeep and Nitesh shared a friendly bond, and both had traveled from Delhi to meet. During their interaction, a heated argument broke out, leading Sandeep to allegedly strike Kavita on the head with a beer bottle. Subsequently, associates retaliated and killed Sandeep. Both bodies were thrown into a canal to destroy evidence before eventually being recovered by authorities.
