In an aggressive crackdown against the illegal narcotics trade operating within the region, law enforcement authorities in Pratapgarh district have executed a major operation. Acting on specific intelligence, the Arnod police station team carried out a sudden raid at a residential property located in Gautam Nagar. During this high-stakes operation, the police successfully recovered one kilogram and 45 grams of illicit opium from the premises. In addition to the narcotics, authorities seized a substantial amount of cash allegedly tied to the contraband trade, along with two vehicles. The estimated market value of the confiscated opium is pegged at approximately five lakh rupees, shedding light on a persistent trafficking network in the area.
Informer Tip-Off Triggers Police Raid
Detailing the sequence of events that led to the raid, SP Vishal Jangid stated that the local police had received actionable intelligence through a reliable informer. The tip-off indicated that Jetharam Brahmin, a native of Jodhpur district, was running an illegal trade of opium and dodachura from his residential house situated in Gautam Nagar, Arnod. According to the received information, several buyers had gathered at the property at that very moment to procure narcotics. Prompted by this crucial intelligence, a police team swiftly mobilized and raided the designated location. However, sensing the imminent police action, the primary homeowner Jetharam managed to flee the scene before officers could apprehend him. Although the police conducted a thorough search operation in the surrounding area, the cover of darkness hindered their efforts, and he could not be located that night.
Search Yields Opium and Two Arrests
Upon entering the house and conducting a detailed search, the police personnel encountered two individuals inside the property. When interrogated, they were identified as Shravanram Jat, a resident of Narnadi, and Rajendra alias Raju Brahmin, a resident of Janadesar in Jodhpur district. A subsequent search of their possession led to the discovery of a transparent plastic bag containing one kilogram and 45 grams of opium. The police demanded valid licenses or statutory permits authorizing the possession of the contraband, but both men failed to produce any legal documentation. Consequently, the authorities seized the narcotic substance and placed both individuals under formal arrest.
Cash, Vehicles Seized and Ongoing Investigation
During the ongoing search of the house, the police also discovered four lakh seventy thousand rupees in cash. According to police statements, preliminary questioning revealed that this money belonged to the absconding homeowner Jetharam and was generated directly through the buying and selling of illegal opium. Alongside the heavy cash pile, the police impounded a Breza car and a motorcycle found at the location. An official case under the NDPS Act has been registered against both arrested accused persons, and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway. The authorities are actively searching for the absconding owner Jetharam to uncover the primary source of the opium supply and identify any other conspirators operating within this illegal syndicate. Further legal actions will proceed based on the findings of this ongoing probe.
