Tension gripped a busy downtown area of Rohtak in Haryana on Wednesday when the body of a local lawyer was discovered inside a Scorpio bearing the registration number 0001, parked right in front of the Congress Bhavan. The deceased was identified as Pradeep Nara, husband of former municipal councillor Deepika Nara. The recovery of his body with a bullet wound to the temple inside the luxury SUV triggered immediate commotion across the city, prompting local police and forensic specialists to rush to the spot to launch an exhaustive inspection of the vehicle and its surroundings.
Licensed Weapon Recovered as Police Secure Crime Scene
Police authorities initially responded to an alert suggesting that an individual had committed suicide in the vicinity. Upon reaching the designated spot, officers inspected the stationary vehicle and located the man's lifeless body, noting a distinct gunshot wound to his temple. During the preliminary inspection of the SUV, officials seized a licensed revolver from inside the vehicle. The crime scene was immediately cordoned off to prevent contamination, enabling forensic experts to gather fingerprint impressions, ballistic material, and other critical physical evidence.
Family Rejects Suicide Narrative and Points to Previous Hostility
Family members of the deceased have firmly dismissed the suicide angle, raising allegations of murder instead. They demanded an uncompromised and exhaustive investigation into the entire incident to uncover the exact circumstances that led to the lawyer's death.
The father of the deceased, Devender Nara, levelled serious allegations, pointing out that Pradeep was his only son and that his daughter-in-law had previously served as an elected councillor from Ward Number 18. Devender Nara revealed that he had earlier registered a criminal case against certain individuals and had consistently harboured fears regarding potential harm. He voiced strong apprehensions that the fatal shooting could be a premeditated attack stemming from that hostility rather than self-harm.
Incident in High-Security Zone Raises Serious Safety Concerns
The location of the incident has drawn considerable public attention due to its proximity to key administrative offices. The spot outside the political party office sits merely a short distance away from the Superintendent of Police office, the Civil Lines police station, and the dedicated women's police station. The occurrence of such a fatal shooting in a prominent, heavily patrolled civic and administrative hub has sparked intense discussions among local residents and legal practitioners.
Surveillance Footage and Technical Evidence Under Scrutiny
Investigating teams are keeping both angles under consideration, probing whether the incident was a suicide or an act of foul play. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from CCTV cameras installed along the adjacent roads to establish the timeline of the vehicle's arrival and monitor any suspicious movement around it before and after the shooting occurred. Simultaneously, forensic teams are examining the deceased's mobile phone records, call logs, and digital communications.
Sunil Kumar, Station House Officer of the Arya Nagar police station, stated that the forthcoming autopsy findings would play a decisive role in clarifying the precise medical cause and conditions surrounding the death. Law enforcement officials emphasized that no definitive conclusions would be drawn until all physical, digital, and post-mortem evidence had been thoroughly evaluated, after which subsequent legal steps would proceed.
