A sudden panic gripped Sihi village in Faridabad district of Haryana on Sunday evening when a toddler accidentally slipped into a deep, uncovered borewell while playing. As soon as the accident came to light, a large crowd of villagers gathered at the spot and promptly alerted the local authorities. Responding swiftly to the emergency call, a police team rushed to the location and immediately initiated extensive rescue operations to pull the child out safely.
The Incident and Municipal Negligence
The victim has been identified as a two-and-a-half-year-old girl named Neha. She was playing in the vicinity with other children when she fell into the open shaft. The tragic news sent shockwaves through her family. Neha's father, Ramdeen, works as a daily wage laborer to sustain the family. According to local residents, the borewell belongs to the municipal corporation and had been lying abandoned for nearly 10 years. Earlier, the borewell was covered with a lid, but the cover went missing a few days ago, leaving the deep hole exposed and hazardous.
Ongoing Rescue Operations at the Site
Upon receiving information about the mishap, police and disaster response teams arrived at the scene without delay. The rescue crew is trying to reach the trapped child by digging parallel to the borewell alongside other critical technical procedures. The teams are working relentlessly to extract the toddler safely from the depths. At present, the topmost priority for the administration is the safe recovery of the child. The rescue operation is continuing under the close supervision of police and rescue personnel at the site.
