Police in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, have arrested a man accused of posting a social media video containing objectionable remarks and a death threat against Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
The accused has been identified as Rajnish, a resident of village Bhagot. He was produced in court today, where he was sent to four days of police remand.
The case came to light on Wednesday, when Vishwa Shama, a resident of Shivnagar, filed a complaint with the police. According to the complaint, a video uploaded from a person's social media account used objectionable words against the Chief Minister and contained a threat to kill him. The complaint also alleged that the video made objectionable comments targeting a particular community.
Once the complaint was received, police swiftly identified the accused. He was then called in for questioning at the Bhota police post, where he was arrested during the course of the interrogation.

SP Hamirpur Balveer Singh said that given the seriousness of the matter, police moved quickly, tracked down the accused, questioned him, arrested him and produced him in court today, where he was sent to four days of police remand. He said police have registered a case against the accused under various sections related to using abusive language on social media, deliberately making derogatory remarks against a person, and tarnishing his image.

According to the information that has come out, the accused hurled abuses at CM Sukhu in the viral video. In the same video, he also used a word like halala and targeted a particular religion and community. Police are currently investigating the matter.
