The Himachal Pradesh government is inviting applications under the Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Scheme to provide social security and financial relief to vulnerable families across the state. Eligible households have time until September 20 to submit their applications at designated local administrative offices. The government initiative aims to uplift underprivileged sections by supplying free power, monthly cash allowances for women, and financial support for constructing permanent houses.
Key Welfare Benefits and Financial Assistance
Under the scheme, selected families will receive a comprehensive package of financial and infrastructure benefits. Beneficiary households will be provided 300 units of free electricity per month, significantly lowering their monthly utility burdens. Additionally, eligible women within these households will receive a monthly financial grant of Rs 1,500. Families currently deprived of permanent shelter will be given financial assistance to build pucca houses. The state government aims to cover approximately 80 lakh to 2 lakh poor families under this umbrella initiative. According to the timeline, the government plans to fully roll out the scheme on October 2, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria for Beneficiaries
The state policy prioritizes specific vulnerable groups within local communities. Families raising orphan children under 27 years of age are eligible to apply, as are households containing senior citizens aged over 59 years. Female-headed households comprising widows, unmarried women, divorced women, and abandoned women are also covered, provided there is no adult family member aged between 27 and 59 years in the household. Furthermore, families where the head of the household has a disability level of 40 percent or higher are entitled to apply for welfare support.
Conditions That Lead to Ineligibility
To ensure benefits reach genuinely needy families, strict exclusion criteria have been set. Any household with an annual family income exceeding Rs 75,000 will be deemed ineligible for the scheme. Families owning more than 1 hectare of land will also be excluded from receiving benefits. Additionally, if any member of the household is employed in government service, semi-government institutions, or private employment, the family will not qualify. Families meeting all statutory requirements without falling into these excluded categories will be recognized as final beneficiaries.
Application Submission and Updated Rules for MGNREGA Workers
Application forms can be submitted at local administrative centers, including the respective Gram Panchayat office, Block Development Officer (BDO) office, or Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office before September 20. Solan Block Development Officer Manjula Kanwar stated that during the eighth phase, MGNREGA workers who completed at least one day of work were included under the scheme's scope. Following updated departmental guidelines issued on August 1, workers engaged under MGNREGA during FY 2024-25 as well as FY 2025-26 are now eligible. Officials have urged eligible workers to complete their filings on time.
Screening Progress and Administrative Selection
The screening of applications received at the block level is actively underway. Following a secondary administrative review, 27 additional families were selected in the final phase. A total of 713 families have been identified across eight phases in the Solan block so far. Local authorities have encouraged all eligible households to turn in their completed applications within the stipulated deadline to ensure seamless delivery of scheme benefits.
