The long-running dispute within the Kinnaur district unit has escalated into a full-blown public conflict. Senior Congress leader and Cabinet Minister Jagat Singh Negi has raised serious questions regarding the newly formed District Congress Committee. Expressing his deep dissatisfaction, Negi targeted the newly appointed leadership without directly naming the district president, accusing them of completely ignoring the veteran, grassroots workers who have dedicated their lives to the party.
Severe Allegations of Sidelining Grassroots Cadres
Jagat Singh Negi made highly controversial remarks about the composition of the newly formed executive body, claiming that not a single genuine Congress worker from the Kinnaur region has been given a place. In a stinging attack, the senior leader asserted that the new committee is filled with sleeper cells and individuals who act like traitors to the party. He argued that the newly appointed members have never been active in the traditional organizational structure of the Congress party in the past, yet they have been handed significant responsibilities.
Questioning the legitimacy and necessity of the new committee, Negi demanded a clarification regarding the status of the previous executive body. He emphasized that those loyalists who held the party flag high during its most challenging political phases are now being systematically ignored to accommodate individuals who have entered the system through backdoor channels.
The controversy surrounds the creation of a massive 56-member District Congress Committee, which Negi claims was formed by completely pushing aside the experienced leaders of the old executive body. He insisted that a balanced organizational structure must always provide adequate space and respect to the active, long-term workers. The inclusion of individuals with no prior record of active organizational contribution has created a massive rift between the ministerial faction and the newly appointed district leadership.
Controversy Over the Dissolution of Block Committees
Apart from the district-level appointments, Jagat Singh Negi has raised sharp objections to the decision to dissolve the existing Block Congress Committees in the region. He pointed out a procedural anomaly, stating that the block committees were already active and functioning well before the new DCC was officially constituted.
