In a notable development within the administrative corridors of Uttar Pradesh, the state government has officially accepted the voluntary retirement application submitted by PCS officer and GST Deputy Commissioner Anupama Saroj. Following the formal approval of her VRS, her departure from active civil services has now been finalized. Taking to social media shortly after the approval, Anupama Saroj shared a public message hinting at embarking on a brand-new journey anchored by a fresh set of resolutions, which immediately caught the attention of observers across various sectors.
Deep-Rooted Political Background
Anupama Saroj comes from a family with a deeply established political legacy. Her mother, Sushila Saroj, is a former Member of Parliament representing the Samajwadi Party who secured a decisive victory from the Mohanlalganj Lok Sabha constituency back in the year 2004, and she has also served as a minister in the government headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav. Furthermore, Anupama Saroj is married to Anurag Bhadoriya, who serves as a spokesperson for the Samajwadi Party and has previously contested assembly elections. This strong familial connection to active politics has naturally fueled massive speculation about her political future.
The Focus on Sidhauli Assembly Constituency
Political circles are currently abuzz with discussions suggesting that Anupama Saroj might contest the upcoming electoral battle from the Sidhauli assembly seat situated in the Sitapur district. Notably, the Sidhauli constituency is reserved specifically for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes. However, despite intense discussions, she has not yet made any formal announcement regarding her candidacy, nor has she officially confirmed joining any political party. The Samajwadi Party has also not named her as an official candidate yet, keeping her potential electoral debut strictly in the realm of speculation for the time being.
A Growing Trend Among Bureaucrats
The transition of senior bureaucrats into the political arena is becoming an increasingly discussed phenomenon in Uttar Pradesh. Prior to this development, former IAS officer Divya मित्तल had also opted for voluntary retirement. Following her resignation, Divya Mittal floated her own political party and publicly announced her intentions to contest the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. As the political landscape heats up ahead of the polls, all eyes remain firmly fixed on Anupama Saroj to see whether she formally steps into electoral politics.
