A disturbing incident of domestic violence involving a visiting tourist couple has come to light from the famous Mall Road in Shimla. The altercation took place on Monday night, where a man was seen physically assaulting his wife in the middle of a public passage. A video capturing the assault quickly gained traction across social media platforms, showing the woman lying on the ground covered in dust while the man repeatedly kicked her. Loud verbal abuse and intense shouting were also recorded during the confrontation.
Late-Night Dispute Near Jhansi Park
The clash occurred near Jhansi Park adjacent to Mall Road. What reportedly began as a verbal argument over an undisclosed disagreement rapidly turned violent. The man resorted to aggressive physical force, raining kicks and blows as the woman collapsed onto the pavement and screamed out loud. Based on the footage, the surroundings appear deserted, suggesting that the altercation took place either late at night or during the early morning hours when pedestrian movement on the promenade was minimal.
Bystander Records Video from a Distance
A person standing at a distance noticed the ongoing violence and captured the entire scene on camera. The video was later uploaded to the internet, where it went viral and sparked widespread concern among residents and authorities alike. The footage provides a clear view of the assault and the altercation that continued unabated for an extended period.
Police Take Cognizance Despite Absence of Official Complaint
Following the public circulation of the recording, Shimla Police initiated an inquiry to establish the sequence of events. Addressing the incident, SSP Shimla Gaurav Singh stated that the individuals involved in the video have been identified as a tourist couple. He added that the woman has not submitted any formal police complaint regarding the physical assault. Nevertheless, law enforcement officials are actively collecting further information based on the video footage to locate the individuals involved and proceed with necessary inquiries.
