A devastating landslide in the Nithar area of Wayanad district in Kerala has triggered a massive rescue operation, with two young engineers from Himachal Pradesh among those reported missing. For three days now, search teams have been working tirelessly through the debris, while the families of the missing engineers await any sign of life. One of the missing individuals is Rahul Sharma, a young engineer employed by a private firm at the site, who hails from the Rewalsar area in Mandi district. Another engineer, belonging to the Surela region of Kangra district, is also missing following the catastrophic event.
Anxious Wait at the Disaster Zone
Upon receiving news of the disaster, Rahul Sharma's family rushed to Kerala to assist and monitor the rescue efforts. His father and maternal uncle have arrived at the landslide site, joining his wife who was already there. Together, they are keeping a constant vigil over the search operations. Ramveer, Rahul's maternal uncle, shared that while rescue teams have managed to pull four to five survivors from the heavy debris, there has been no trace of Rahul so far. The emotional strain on the family is mounting with every passing hour as the search enters a critical phase, and Rahul's younger brother is currently traveling back to India from Dubai to support the family.
Gloom Encircles the Family Ahead of Festive Season
Back in Rewalsar, Himachal Pradesh, an atmosphere of deep sorrow and anxiety has enveloped Rahul's home. His mother remains in constant prayer, desperately hoping for her son's safe return. The situation is particularly heartbreaking for the family as Rahul had only recently married in March of this year in a grand, joyful celebration. Now, his wife stands at the disaster site, holding onto hope. Meanwhile, his sister is overwhelmed with grief, her thoughts turning to the approaching festival of Raksha Bandhan as she prays for her brother's safety, becoming visibly emotional whenever his name is mentioned.
Intense Rescue Operations at the Tunnel Site
Emergency responders and rescue teams are carrying out operations on a war footing across the affected area. Heavy machinery is being deployed to clear the massive mudslides and debris to locate the missing persons. The landslide occurred at the construction site of the twin tunnels in Wayanad. The disaster has already claimed four confirmed lives, and seven individuals, including the two Himachali engineers, remain missing. Rescue workers are facing challenging conditions, but the search continues aggressively in hopes of locating the remaining survivors.
