Movie enthusiasts across the United Kingdom can officially mark their calendars as the complete program for the BFI London Film Festival 2026 has been revealed. Scheduled to take place from October 7 to October 18, this year's edition brings an extensive lineup of world premieres, grand gala events, and highly anticipated international features. While the primary festivities will center in the capital city, film fans nationwide can also participate through special screenings hosted at partner theaters in multiple regional hubs.
Opening and Closing Night Galas
The festival is set to launch with the drama feature Elsinore, which stars Andrew Scott in the lead role. Closing out the 12-day event is the United Kingdom premiere of The Debut, directed by Jesse Eisenberg as his follow-up project to A Real Pain.
Between these flagship night events, the festival schedule is packed with major cinema releases. Highlights include Danny Boyle's newspaper-centered drama Ink, the Spanish feature La Bola Negra, and Taika Waititi's adaptation Klara And The Sun. Additional notable titles on the roster feature Boots Riley's project I Love Boosters, the Palme d'Or-winning film Fjord, James Gray's mob thriller Paper Tiger, Martin McDonagh's drama Wild Horse Nine, and a film adaptation of the stage play Prima Facie featuring Cynthia Erivo.
Blockbusters, Fantasy, and Marvel Premieres
Genre cinema has a prominent showcase in the 2026 lineup. Festival attendees will get an early look at the television space with a special screening of the first two episodes of VisionQuest, Marvel's latest series following the events of WandaVision and Agatha All Along.
Giant monster cinema also takes center stage on the giant format screen, with the kaiju sequel Godzilla Minus Zero scheduled to screen at the BFI IMAX venue. Animation and fantasy fans will witness two major world premieres: Travis Knight's epic stop-motion project Wildwood and Brad Bird's passion project Ray Gunn.
Diverse Thrillers, Comedy, and Regional Access
The lineup continues with Bassam Tariq's hitman thriller Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, alongside the comedy feature The Trip To The Northern Lights starring Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan. Acclaimed filmmaker Ava DuVernay also returns with her latest documentary project titled 14th.
To ensure access beyond the capital, festival screenings will take place simultaneously across partner venues in Nottingham, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Sheffield, Belfast, Bristol, Cardiff, and Glasgow.
