The Two-Parter Becomes an Extended Feature
The BBC has confirmed that the memorable Series 2 two-part storyline comprising 'The Impossible Planet' and 'The Satan Pit' will receive a worldwide theatrical release titled the 'Extended Movie Cut'. In its original television broadcast, the combined narrative ran for roughly 90 minutes. It showcased David Tennant's Tenth Doctor alongside Billie Piper as Rose Tyler. Set aboard an isolated deep-space research station, the adventure plunged the duo into an unsettling crisis involving the alien slave race known as the Ood, chilling psychological possessions among the crew, and a terrifying confrontation with the ancient force waiting beneath the planet's surface.
Restoring Scenes Cut from the Original Broadcast
The original television episodes were scripted by Matt Jones and directed by James Strong. The upcoming theatrical iteration incorporates previously trimmed material into the core narrative. As Charlie Lowe from the BBC explained, the new cut integrates restored deleted scenes alongside other production footage that remained on the editing room floor, creating an expanded presentation of the entire storyline.

Cinemas will debut Doctor Who: The Satan Pit on November 23, the annual celebration known among fans as Doctor Who Day. The release provides devoted audiences with an opportunity to experience an iconic adventure on the big screen while producers determine the franchise's upcoming direction.
