Strict police and administrative action has been launched in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir following the tragic death of a 14-year-old minor student under suspicious circumstances. The victim had been referred from District Hospital Kishtwar to a hospital in Doda for medical treatment linked to pregnancy termination. However, her condition deteriorated during the ambulance journey, and she passed away en route. Following her death, police arrested a government school teacher allegedly involved in the case, while the education department moved swiftly to place him under immediate suspension.
Minor Girl Dies During Medical Transit from Kishtwar to Doda
According to available details of the case, the deceased minor was a resident of the Chatroo area in Kishtwar district. She was reportedly pregnant and had initially been admitted to District Hospital Kishtwar for specialized medical care and pregnancy termination procedures. Owing to the complexity of the medical situation, attending doctors decided to transfer her to the Doda hospital. Tragically, she breathed her last while being transported to Doda, triggering immediate outrage and initiating formal law enforcement proceedings.
Teacher Khalid Hussain Sheikh Arrested and Placed Under Suspension
Upon confirmation of the girl's demise, Kishtwar Police registered a formal FIR and subsequently arrested the accused government teacher, identified as Khalid Hussain Sheikh. Simultaneously, swift departmental action was taken by educational authorities. The Chief Education Officer of Kishtwar issued an official order placing Khalid Hussain Sheikh under immediate suspension. He was serving as a Teacher Grade-II at Middle School Bamalpora located within the Inderwal educational zone. Departmental inquiries against him will run parallel to the criminal investigation.

Previous Case Involving Arrest of Madrasa Cleric in Doda
This incident comes against the backdrop of another severe sexual assault case reported earlier in the neighboring Doda district. In that instance, a madrasa cleric was accused of raping a minor girl. Demonstrating rapid response, police managed to apprehend the suspect within 3 hours of receiving the formal complaint. The accused was identified as Nasir Majeed, a resident of Chellar village, who was associated with Madrasa Dar-ul-Quran operating in the Gandoh area.
Massive Search Operation and Legal Provisions
Following the crime, suspect Nasir Majeed had gone into hiding in an attempt to evade law enforcement. A dedicated police team was immediately constituted to track his movements, launching an extensive search operation across the Gandoh region based on critical leads.
