A junior artist based in Mumbai has been making continuous rounds of police stations in Ranchi, Jharkhand, for the past six months, seeking justice in a case involving alleged sexual exploitation under the pretext of marriage, coercion into prostitution at a spa, and forced religious conversion. The victim has alleged that Nadim Ansari, a resident of Gomia, lured her into a relationship with promises of marriage, brought her to Ranchi, and subsequently attempted to force her into illegal activities. Although the accused was initially arrested following a formal police complaint, he secured bail by promising to fulfill his commitment to marry her. However, after walking out of prison, the accused reneged on his promise, demanded that she convert her religion, and fled when she refused. Despite the court cancelling his bail and issuing an arrest warrant, he remains at large.
Friendship, Deception, and Coercion at a Ranchi Spa
According to the victim's account, she first met Nadim Ansari, a native of Gomia, while working as a junior artist in Mumbai. Over time, their initial acquaintance grew into a close friendship and eventually developed into a romantic relationship. The woman alleged that Ansari secured her trust by repeatedly promising to marry her, on the basis of which physical intimacy was established between them. When she began pressing him to formalize their marriage, Ansari brought her from Mumbai to Ranchi. However, after arriving in Ranchi, his demeanor reportedly changed completely. He began pressuring her to work at a local spa center and engage in unlawful activities with clients. When the woman firmly rejected these demands, Ansari refused to proceed with the marriage altogether.
Arrest, Conditional Bail, and Forced Religious Conversion Demand
Following his refusal to marry her and his attempts to force her into illegal work, the victim approached the Ranchi Women's Police Station and lodged an official complaint. Based on her statement, the police arrested Nadim Ansari and remanded him to judicial custody. While in jail, Ansari assured the victim once again that he would marry her, leading to a compromise between both parties. On the strength of this agreement, the court granted him bail. However, the victim alleged that upon his release from prison, Ansari failed to honor his commitment. Instead of proceeding with the wedding, he began putting intense pressure on her to convert her religion. When the woman adamantly refused to convert, Ansari abandoned her and absconded.
Bail Cancellation, Warrant Issued, and Continued Inaction by Police
Faced with broken promises and ongoing pressure, the victim moved the court to seek legal recourse. Recognizing the breach of bail conditions and the gravity of the matter, the court cancelled Nadim Ansari's bail and issued an arrest warrant against him. Despite the court order, the victim claims she has spent the last six months fruitlessly visiting various police stations and senior law enforcement officers. The accused has managed to evade arrest for half a year, leaving the victim questioning why the police have failed to execute the warrant despite clear judicial orders.
Serious Charges and Mounting Questions Over Police Inaction
The case involves multiple serious allegations, including sexual exploitation on false promises of marriage, pressure to enter illegal prostitution work at a spa center, and post-bail coercion for religious conversion. While the legal validity of these allegations will be established through judicial proceedings and police investigation, the failure to apprehend the accused six months after the issuance of a warrant raises severe questions regarding law enforcement efficiency. Attention is now focused on how quickly the Ranchi police will trace and arrest the absconding suspect, Nadim Ansari, to ensure justice for the victim.
