Active Monsoon Brings Relief and Rain Alerts Across Jharkhand
The monsoon has taken full control over Jharkhand, drastically changing the weather pattern across the state. According to TrendKia, the regional meteorological office (IMD) has forecast widespread light to moderate rainfall, intense thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h on Sunday. This active weather system is expected to lower temperatures significantly, providing much-needed relief from the persistent humid conditions.
Severe Weather Warnings for 16 Districts
A yellow alert has been issued for 16 districts in Jharkhand, where residents are urged to remain cautious. The affected regions expected to witness rainfall, thunder, and lightning include Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega, Gumla, Lohardaga, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Pakur, Godda, and Sahibganj. The Kolhan and Santhal Pargana divisions are likely to experience more intense monsoon activity.
Additionally, Ranchi, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih, Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Khunti, Simdega, and Gumla have been specifically warned about strong winds and heavy thunder. Given the high risk of lightning, safety authorities advise people to avoid standing in open fields or taking shelter under trees during storms.
Varying Temperatures: Pleasant Capitals vs Hot Western Districts
The weather in Ranchi and neighboring southern and central areas like Khunti, Gumla, Simdega, Lohardaga, and West Singhbhum is expected to stay pleasant. Overcast skies with intermittent showers will persist throughout the day, keeping maximum temperatures comfortable between 28 and 32 degrees Celsius.
Conversely, the north-western districts will continue to experience harsher conditions. Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, and Latehar are projected to see minimal rain. In these locations, the maximum temperature is expected to soar to between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius, with areas like Daltonganj suffering from highly uncomfortable humidity and heat.
Recent Rain and Future Outlook
The current wet spell follows significant rainfall recorded on Saturday. Areas like Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Chaibasa, Seraikela, Deoghar, Dumka, Pakur, and Sahibganj witnessed light to moderate showers, while parts of Santhal Pargana and Kolhan saw thunderstorms that helped cool down temperatures. With the monsoon now fully established across the state, weather experts suggest that the rainy spell will expand further in the coming days.
