Train services across Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal are set for disruption between July 6 and July 12, 2026, as the Adra railway division of South Eastern Railway carries out major track repair work. To let engineering crews work safely, the railway has taken rolling blocks on the section, and as a result, 9 trains will be cancelled on various dates, 8 trains will be short terminated or short originated, and 3 express trains will depart hours behind schedule.
Why the Rolling Blocks Are Needed
A rolling block is an arrangement under which train movement on a particular rail section is halted for a fixed period so that engineering teams can carry out repair and maintenance work on the tracks without any safety risk. Since the work at Adra division will continue for an entire week, the railway has released the full list of operational changes in advance so passengers can adjust their travel plans and avoid last minute trouble at stations.
These 9 Trains Stand Fully Cancelled
According to the railway's list, the following trains will not run at all on the specified dates:
- Tatanagar-Asansol MEMU (68056): will not run on July 8 and July 11.
- Asansol-Adra-Asansol MEMU (68046/68045): cancelled on July 6, 8, 9, 10 and 12.
- Adra-Medinipur-Adra MEMU (68090/68089): will not operate on July 7, 10 and 12.
- Adra-Bhaga-Adra MEMU (68077/68078): service cancelled on July 6 and 9.
- Asansol-Purulia-Asansol MEMU (63594/63593): will not run on July 6 and 9.
These 8 Trains Will Be Cut Short Before Their Destination
Some trains will not reach their scheduled destination and will instead be halted midway, a change the railway calls short termination and short origination:
- Asansol-Tatanagar MEMU (68055): on July 8 and 11 it will run only up to Adra, remaining cancelled between Adra and Tatanagar.
- Tatanagar-Asansol-Barabhum MEMU (68056/68060): on July 7, 10 and 12 it will run only up to Adra, staying cancelled between Adra, Asansol and back to Adra.
- Asansol-Purulia-Asansol MEMU (63594/63593): on July 8, 10 and 11 it will run only up to Adra, cancelled between Adra, Purulia and back to Adra.
- Chakradharpur-Gomoh-Chakradharpur Express (18116/18115): on July 7, 10 and 12 it will run only up to Mahuda, cancelled between Mahuda, Gomoh and back to Mahuda.
- Asansol-Barabhum MEMU (68060): on July 8 and 11 it will run up to Adra, cancelled between Asansol and Adra.
3 Express Trains Will Run Hours Late
The rolling blocks will also push back the departure of three express trains by hours:
- Kharagpur-Hatia Express (18035): will leave Kharagpur one hour late on July 6, 9 and 10.
- Hatia-Kharagpur Express (18036): will depart Hatia one hour late on July 7.
- Hatia-Kharagpur Express (18036): will depart Hatia two hours late on July 8 and 11.

The railway has clearly advised passengers to check their train's latest status before leaving for the station, since the list of cancelled, short terminated and delayed trains changes by date between July 6 and July 12. Travellers using stations such as Tatanagar, Asansol, Adra, Purulia, Medinipur, Bhaga, Barabhum, Chakradharpur, Gomoh, Mahuda, Kharagpur and Hatia have been asked to stay particularly alert.
