Not everyone who dreams of buying a new car this festive season has the budget for a brand-new showroom model. Several dealerships in Ranchi offer a way around that problem, selling cars that are barely one or two months old, in excellent condition and priced well below their original cost. Buyers can even take these cars for a test drive before deciding, which takes much of the risk out of the purchase. That combination lets budget-conscious families still bring home a nearly-new car during the festive season.
Cars between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 3 lakh on Kanke Road
Premchand Motors, located near the Ram Mandir on Kanke Road, stocks second-hand cars priced between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, with models ranging from Tata Motors to Mahindra. Manager Sudhir says customers sometimes arrive with cars that are just 10 days old, having driven them only a few kilometres before deciding they want a different vehicle or simply changing their minds. Such near-new cars end up being sold at the showroom. Sudhir adds that the showroom currently has a car that is barely a month old and in absolutely fine condition, meaning buyers can pick up an almost-new vehicle at a fraction of its original price.
Poddar Motors: prices starting at just Rs 50,000
A short distance away is Poddar Motors, easily spotted by the large sale board displayed outside. Cars here can be bought for as little as Rs 50,000, making it an ideal option for anyone who needs a vehicle only temporarily, say for a year or two. Manager Ravi Poddar says many customers are people who have recently moved to Ranchi and need a car for just a year or two before selling it again. For them, the showroom offers several well-known brands, including Tata, within a budget of up to Rs 1 lakh, which keeps the initial outlay very low.
Ranchi Car Bazaar: every budget, including Mercedes and BMW
The third major stop is Ranchi Car Bazaar, where manager Amit says second-hand cars are available across the price spectrum, from Rs 50,000 to as much as Rs 50 lakh. Whatever budget or model a customer names, the showroom can usually match it. A Mercedes is available for Rs 25 lakh, while a BMW can be bought for Rs 20 lakh. According to Amit, buyers simply need to state their budget, and a suitable car, whether a small hatchback or a luxury sedan, is shown to them accordingly.
Why demand rises during the festive season
Buying a new vehicle around festivals like Diwali and Dhanteras is considered auspicious in many households, which is why showrooms typically see a rush of customers during this period. But a tight budget often forces families to postpone that plan. Showrooms like these three in Ranchi offer a practical middle path, letting budget-conscious buyers bring a car home during the festive season without stretching their finances. The option of a test drive and a wide spread of price ranges also means buyers can make their choice without any hurry.
