Congress lawmaker Manish Tewari filed an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, demanding that Question Hour, Zero Hour, and all scheduled parliamentary work be put on hold to deliberate on introducing a robust anti-defection law designed to stop opportunistic, large-scale political defections. Communicating through a formal notice to the Secretary-General of the Lower House, Tewari highlighted his intention to seek a discussion on a crucial topic of immediate public significance. The notice emphasized that the House should pause all normal business to address a legislative framework prohibiting mass political defections that lack real ideological grounding, while ensuring legitimate space for principled dissent within and outside legislative bodies.
