A magnificent mosaic portrait of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was created in Koderma, Jharkhand, to mark his 76th birthday. The grand artwork, featuring the Prime Minister in a striking red turban, was assembled near the Charadih residence of Annpurna Devi, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development who also represents Koderma as a Member of Parliament. A Grand Creation Using 1.5 Lakh Lamps
A skilled artist from Giridih, Sumit Gunjan, led a dedicated 11-member team to bring this unique vision to life. The team worked tirelessly day and night over two days, starting on September 15 and concluding on September 16. They meticulously arranged 1.5 lakh traditional earthen lamps (diyas) in a precise pattern to construct the massive portrait. The vibrant red turban in the mosaic particularly stood out, capturing the attention of every onlooker who visited the site near the minister's home. The sheer scale of the project demonstrated the immense dedication of the artists involved.
A Passion for Eco-Friendly Artistry
Sumit Gunjan shared insights into his creative background, explaining that he specializes in making large-scale mosaic art using recycled and eco-friendly materials. His portfolio already includes impressive mosaic portraits of historic and spiritual figures such as Shri Ram Darbar, the tribal icon Lord Birsa Munda, and the legendary freedom fighters Sidhu-Kanhu. Gunjan emphasized that his art relies on transforming diverse, everyday materials into grand visual structures through creative arrangements. For this specific project, coordinating the placement of 1.5 lakh fragile clay diyas to perfectly capture the Prime Minister's facial features required extreme precision and focus.
Prayers for Health and Longevity
Alongside the viewing of the mosaic art, a special ceremony was organized at the venue where a symbolic "lamp of blessing" was lit. Local community members participated in the lighting ceremony, offering collective prayers for the health, well-being, and long life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The atmosphere was filled with festive enthusiasm as visitors appreciated both the artistic effort and the celebratory spirit of the occasion.
