The administrative machinery in Keyi Panyor district of Arunachal Pradesh has launched a comprehensive preparation drive to facilitate a seamless, hygienic, and secure journey for music lovers traveling to the upcoming Ziro Festival of Music (ZFM) 2026. The internationally acclaimed festival is scheduled to take place in the scenic Ziro Valley from September 24 to September 27.
Strategic Transit Hub and Traffic Flow
Since Keyi Panyor serves as a crucial transit route leading directly to the festival venue in the Lower Subansiri district, local authorities expect a massive surge in vehicular and pedestrian traffic. A high volume of domestic and international tourists, alongside high-profile VIPs, will be passing through key commercial hubs and transit junctions of the district, including Potin, Yazali, Yachuli, and Joram. Managing this influx effectively is critical to ensuring that the overall festival experience begins on a positive note for everyone entering the region.
High-Level Meeting Coordinates Local Departments
To address these logistical challenges, a crucial planning and preparatory meeting was convened on Thursday. The session was presided over by the district's Deputy Commissioner, Ankita Mishra. It saw active participation from key local administrators and security chiefs, including Keyi Panyor Superintendent of Police Dr Akanksha Milind Tamgadge. In addition to top security officials, the meeting brought together various department heads, administrative officers, local market welfare committees, PRI members, and other prominent community stakeholders to create a unified plan of action.
Focus on Sanitation and Awareness Campaigns
As part of the active preparations, the district administration has scheduled targeted awareness campaigns on September 18 and September 19. These campaigns will focus on local business establishments, including hotels, roadside eateries, restaurants, and shops. The primary objective is to sensitize business owners about high food hygiene standards, waste management, and overall sanitation along the highway. To further institutionalize cleanliness, a major community social service drive has been scheduled for September 21. Running from Potin to the Joram Anya Gate, this clean-up drive aligns with the national Swachhata Hi Seva initiative, aiming to spruce up the entire transit stretch.
Strengthening Roads and Promoting Homestays
To ensure smooth physical transit, the administration is focusing on immediate road repairs and the maintenance of vulnerable highway stretches that are prone to damage. Color-coded dustbins and welcoming signboards will be installed at prominent points along the route. Security arrangements and traffic management strategies are also being upgraded, particularly at the busy junction of Potin, to prevent congestion. Furthermore, the district plans to actively promote registered local homestays and tourist lodges, offering travelers comfortable lodging while showcasing the unique hospitality and tourism potential of the Keyi Panyor district. All stakeholders have committed to working in a synchronized manner to deliver a memorable, clean, and safe experience.
